news-category: Athletics Tyler Riddell and Jessica Perriello Take Home GWU Athlete of The Week Awards By Office of University Communications On November 4, 2024 Riddell Helped Lead Football to Win over Charleston Southern, and Perriello Posts Historic 5k Time BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Redshirt senior quarterback Tyler Riddell of the ³ÉÈËÊÓÆµ football team and junior Jessica Perriello of the ³ÉÈËÊÓÆµ cross country team are the recipients of GWU Athlete of The Week following recent exceptional performances on the field of competition. On the gridiron, Riddell helped lead ³ÉÈËÊÓÆµ to a rivalry win over Charleston Southern in the North-South BBQ Bowl. Riddell finished the game by completing 17 of 24 passes, tossing for 212 yards, and completing what-would-be the game-winning touchdown with five minutes remaining in the game. With the redshirt senior under center, the Runnin’ Bulldogs have won two of the last three games in the Big South-Ohio Valley Football Conference. In cross country, Perriello put together one of the best races in ³ÉÈËÊÓÆµ history. The Alpharetta, Ga., native completed the 5k at the Big South Cross Country Championship in a time of 17:57, good enough to take 11th place overall with the second best time in program history. With such a result, Perriello became the first female runner in ³ÉÈËÊÓÆµ history to be named to an All-Big South team, receiving second-team honors in addition to an All-Academic team award.
