Nursing Schools Almanac Ranks GWU Among Top Programs in North Carolina

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—The research team at Nursing Schools Almanac, an educational resource that ranks nursing programs, has recognized ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ Hunt School of Nursing for its academics and student success. After collecting and reviewing data from numerous N.C. schools, the team awarded the nursing school No. 8 for all of its programs. Further, GWU ranked No. 3 in North Carolina for its prelicensure BSN program.

The Almanac evaluates schools in three areas:

  • The institution’s academic prestige and perceived value.
  • The breadth and depth of nursing programs offered.
  • Student success, particularly on the NCLEX licensure examination.

The Hunt School of Nursing offers several levels of nursing education including an associate degree, three pathways to a bachelor’s degree (traditional, accelerated second degree, RN-to-BSN), a master’s degree with several specialty tracks (education, administration, family nurse practitioner), and a doctor of nursing practice (post-masters DNP, family nurse practitioner, and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner).

In addition, the school offers a post-baccalaureate certificate in nursing education and post-master’s certificates in both MSN specialty areas. The DNP program also offers post-doctoral certificates in both nurse practitioner specialties. Undergraduates consistently perform well on their licensure exams. ADN graduates have averaged a 90 percent pass rate on the NCLEX exam over the past seven years, while their counterparts in the BSN program have scored an exceptional 97 percent pass rate during that timeframe.

The North Carolina rankings are available and the prelicensure BSN rankings can be found
