Sigma Tau Delta Gamma Lambda Chapter Mission Statement: 鈥淭o use the power of words to inspire and encourage others.鈥� is an English honor society for students at four-year colleges and universities dedicated to fostering literacy, social justice, and all aspects of the discipline of English. Sigma Tau Delta was established in 1924 to confer distinction for high achievement in English language, literature, and writing. Membership Membership in Sigma Tau Delta is through a local chapter on behalf of the international organization. Candidates for undergraduate membership and graduate membership must have completed: a minimum of two college courses in English language or literature, anda minimum of a B or equivalent average in English and in general scholarship. What We Do Members meet once a month to develop service projects, to organize social activities, and to plan the end of the semester spring induction day trip.
